It’s What’s On The Inside That Counts

Many times when you hear this term, it’s usually a cop out to conform to laziness rather than to do something about the situation. But in any case, they’re absolutely right! The inside DOES count and if we don’t take better care of ourselves then we will self destruct….from the inside out.

The internal benefits of a healthier lifestyle are astonishing. Research has shown that exercising is beneficial at any age and the more you do the better. The National Academy of Sciences has recommended that everyone strive for a total of an hour per day of physical activity.  An hour sounds like a stretch I know, but that hour can include gardening, walking, or even doing daily household chores throughout the day.  Of course we all know how exercising plays a pinnacle part in weight loss along with a healthy diet, but it can also prevent or improve health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.

Along with the diseases it can prevent or keep under control, it can give you a higher sense of self, better self esteem, and a stronger confidence. Not just from the better outward look, but by succeeding with your commitments and dedication to a healthier lifestyle.  I’ve noticed often times, I feel the effects of my workouts hours later; even into the next day.  See, the body releases Endorphins, which gives you that energetic feeling all day, a great boost of energy without the need of an energy drink and also without the crash.  Exercise can also help you deal with stress, anxiety, and depression. Certain studies have shown it can help certain types of cancers, improve immune systems, and much more.

The benefits are endless…and the requirement to receive these benefits is pure and simple…just do it.

So the next time someone says “It’s what’s on the inside that counts”, tell them all the more reason why you should work out and eat right.
